Second edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Guide

The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) launched the second edition of the Health and Wellness Tourism Guide of the country, with the local content coordination of the Public Relations firm, expert in Health tourism, AF Strategic Communication.

The purpose of this guide is to project not only the beautiful tourist destination that the Dominican Republic represents, but position it as the main health and wellness option of the Caribbean for those who wish to undergo treatment abroad, as well as provide them with the necessary information for their travel.

The president and founder of the ADTS, Alejandro Cambiaso Rathe, explained that this guide seeks to guide international patients on the process of receiving health care in the country, providing general and cultural data on the destination, options of health centers enabled and certified or that have international departments that guarantee the quality and safety of the patient, as well as hotels and answers to the most frequent concerns of health tourists.

On the other hand, during the activity, Amelia Reyes Mora, vice president of the ADTS and president of the Public Relations firm, AF Strategic Communication, announced that preparations for the 4th have already begun. International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, the most important activity of the sector in the region, to be held next year at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua hotel.

In the event Dr. Cambiaso Rathe and Lic. Reyes Mora, formally delivered the first copies of the guide to the Minister of Health, Dr. Altagracia Guzmán Marcelino and the Vice-Minister of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism, Lic Fausto Fernández, who expressed their commitment to the development of health tourism in the Dominican Republic.

The activity was attended by important personalities from the sector and the government, including Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Lic. Isidoro Santana, the President of Asonahores, Joel Santos, the Director IDSS, Dr. César Mella, among others.

During the event, the president of the ADTS announced that the Dominican Association of Health Tourism will conduct a study by the Observatory of the RD Health System that houses the Plenitud Foundation, with the support of the specialized international firm ASISA Research Group.

Reyes Mora, thanked the different companies that have collaborated to carry out health tourism promotion activities and acknowledged the special commitment of the JW Marriott Hotel that opened its doors to make this launch possible.

The guide is the local health instrument with the greatest scope and international visibility to guide health tourists visiting our country, said Dr. Cambiaso. He informed that it is available on the dominicanrepublic.medicaltourism.com web portal and on the Dominican Health Tourism Association www.adtusalud.org, in the same way in eBook format through Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble and It distributes internationally in the tourist promotion offices of the Ministry of Tourism, consulates and Dominican embassies abroad with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Accredited Consular Corps in the country and conferences on health care, strategic points and insurance.
