Hospital administrators, doctors and health personnel, responsible for international government policies, businessmen, insurance executives, health buyers, hospitality, transportation industries and the entire health tourism value chain converge, from 27 to 30 September, 2015, in Orlando, Florida, for the world congress of medical tourism.

With the support of the main health centers of the nation, the Dominican Health Tourism Association is excited to show the world that the Dominican Republic, in addition to having beautiful beaches, exporting excellent cigars, coffee and outstanding baseball players, also has a world class health offer, so it will be Platinum Sponsor of the Eighth World Congress of Medical Tourism and Global Health.

Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the Medical Tourism Association® (MTA), said that this sponsorship symbolizes a consolidated effort by the main actors in the health sector in the Dominican Republic – CEDIMAT, the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud, The Rescue Group, the Santiago Metropolitan Hospital, and the Centers for Global Health and International Medicine, located in Medical Net – come together to build a coordinated national strategy based on the quality and safety of health services to attract international patients .

“There is no mystery about the potential of the Dominican Republic,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the MTA. “International investors are very aware of the country’s advantages as a destination for high-level tourism. But, this is really a turning point and a great opportunity for a nation that already hosts some 20,000 international patients, to build together an international health destination, diversify the tourism offer and strengthen the country brand, which represents a good news for everyone.

Stephano said that after the World Medical Tourism Congress, the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and the Dominican Association of Health Tourism will carry out training and certification programs offered through the Medical Tourism Association®. These trainings are designed to raise the competitiveness and medical standards in the facilities and health and support staff and will come hand in hand with the edition of the “Destination Guide for Health Tourism of the Dominican Republic”, which will be launched in the world congress of medical tourism and will be a reference publication that offers the best health centers, hospitals, hotels, airports, recovery and wellness centers, financial institutions and investment opportunities on an island that has the largest economy in the world.
