UNIBE, MTA and ADTS sign agreement for medical tourism certification

Julio Amado Castaños Guzmán, Rector of UNIBE and President of the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud, announced that Unibe signed an agreement with the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) and the Dominican Association of Health Tourism, through which they will offer jointly in the Dominican Republic, training to train the sectors involved in the development of health tourism and thus promote productive chains that allow structuring a health destination.

The Rector of Unibe stressed that the central axis of medical tourism must be in the quality and safety of health services, where continuing medical education, certifications and international accreditation play a leading role.

Castaños, indicates that within these academic offers will be the possibility of individually certifying as specialists in medical tourism where executives from the health and tourism sectors, doctors, airline personnel, travel agencies, tour operators, investors, can participate others. Similarly, international certification programs for health centers, certifications for hotels and wellness centers and then diplomas and masters in medical tourism will be taught.

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism and member of the Council of Education Advisors of the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), considers that this is a unique initiative in Latin America, which will allow to train the required human resources in the health and tourism industries to be able to insert ourselves competitively in the global medical tourism market. Cambiaso believes that it is an accurate step where UNIBE establishes its leadership and focus of excellence in human resources training for medical tourism.

The Director of Global Programs of the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), Cristina Cardona, affirms that one of the ways to advance in the activity of health tourism in the Dominican Republic is the training of professionals with capacities to achieve a leadership position world.

The MTA considers that the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) is the right ally for its permanent innovative vocation to promote academic excellence in the field of health tourism and the development of its professionals that will have a long-term impact on the country’s economic development. Additionally, the online training platform owned by the MTA and its global implementation gives great added value to this agreement.
