RD joins the AL health tourism network

The country will benefit from the promotion of health tourism, thanks to the fact that it joined the Latin American Health Tourism Network, through the Dominican Association of Health Tourism.

The Latin American Health Tourism Network (RedLAtS) is an international initiative for the integration of Latin American institutions that develop actions in favor of health tourism in their country, around which the systematic, deliberate and committed work of collaboration for consolidate the positioning and visibility of the region in health and wellness tourism.

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism, explained that with the inclusion in the Network, we will work hand in hand with the countries of the region exchanging experiences, promoting the development of regional standards, training and promotion initiatives of the quality and safety of the services offered to international patients.

He said that the country will also be favored with the collaboration between national, regional and local governments and private institutions to boost medical tourism, through the association.

Likewise, the promotion of local and regional synergies between hospitals, clinics, universities, study and research centers and the realization of training programs, training and development of good practices.

It is made up of the cluster of medicine and dentistry services of Medellín, Chamber of Commerce of Cúcuta, Mexican Council of the Medical Tourism Industry, Global Forum of Medical Tourism of Mexico, Fundación Exportar de Argentina, Health and Welfare Tourism Association of Western Guatemala and the Council for the International Promotion of Medicine of Costa Rica (PROMED).

Dominican Republic is the first Caribbean country in the Network.

The Dominican Association of Health Tourism is chaired by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, a certified specialist in Medical Tourism by the World Association of Medical Tourism (MTA) and an expert in Health Center Management.

The Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS), is a non-profit organization that promotes the Dominican Republic as an ideal destination for sustainable health tourism, taking advantage of the best international practices in the health and safety of care sector.

As a reference body in the health tourism sector in our country, it favors coordination between public and private sectors to achieve the consolidation of the Dominican Republic as a world-class Health Tourism destination.
