Public-private partnerships promote medical tourism

Health tourism is the spearhead to strengthen the quality of the supply of medical services, create jobs and attract foreign exchange and investment, which is why it constitutes an important activity of national interest that requires a defined development strategy.

For these reasons, the private sector and the government are working to favor the country’s rank as an attractive and safe medical tourism destination.

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and Lic. Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, met with the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Rivera, in order to achieve synergies to promote this market niche and within the context of the 5th International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism.

The long-awaited event, cataloged by experts as the main forum for medical tourism in the Caribbean region, is scheduled for June 9th and 10th, 2021, at the Embajador Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo.

The organizers highlighted during their meeting with the Minister of Health that the 5th version of the congress and the launch of the Dominican Republic Health Tourism Guide is aligned with the presidential goals of innovation and diversification of the tourism offer.

They also emphasized that the country has managed the pandemic accurately, with a low fatality rate, availability of hospital beds, intensive care, and a world-class vaccination and assistance plan tourists, aspects that are important to the international community to know.
