Panel of experts discussed Health Tourism challenges in the North region

In the activity, the managers of important health centers in the area and local and foreign specialists spoke about the opportunities and challenges for the consolidation of the northern region as an international health destination.

The event, organized by the Dominican Association of Health Tourism, Summary of Health and HODELPA. It took place on June 19, 2015 at the Hotel Gran Almirante from 8.30 am until noon.

The event was supported by the Ministry of Tourism, the Medical Tourism Association, Accreditation Canada International and Centers for Global Health and International Medicine.

The president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso affirms that the North zone has great potential for the development of medical tourism, but considers it important to stimulate dialogue and synergies with activities like this, which are called to strengthen productive chains, raise quality standards and define joint strategic planning.

In Santiago de los Caballeros and the northern zone there are prestigious health centers, to name a few: The Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago, leader in Robotic Surgery, North Medical Union that represents an icon for its sustained growth over the past 10 years, Corominas Clinic , Maternal and Child General Hospital and Rescue Group (which is the network with the most experience in the management of international patients, during the past year more than 15 thousand foreigners attended).

Likewise, it is worth highlighting the complementary offers and innovative support services such as the Wellness Center by HODELPA, the first specialized recovery center located in Santiago de los Caballeros, between the Santiago Metropolitan Hospital and the Cibao airport, designed to handle the recovery of Health patients and tourists.
