Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, announced the agenda for the 5th International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism.
The long-awaited meeting is scheduled for June 9 and 10, 2021 at the Ambassador Royal Hideaway Hotel in Santo Domingo and their organizers assured that it will have an innovative and updated biosafety protocol in accordance with the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of Atlanta and the World Health Organization.
The congress plans to address topics of interest with some of the highest representatives of the public and private sector, as well as internationally renowned personalities such as Dr. David Vequist, Ph.D. Founder and Director Center for Medical Tourism Research (CMTR); Dr. David Samadi, Director of Oncologic Urology at Saint Francis Hospital; Elizabeth Ziemba, President of Medical Tourism Training; Dr. Javier Morales, President of Best Option Healthcare; Massimo Manzi, Executive Director of the Costa Rican Chamber of Health (PROMED), among others.
The activity is labeled as the industry’s main event in Central America and the Caribbean and includes conferences, panels, spaces for networking and the launch of the 3rd edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Guide.
Moreover, the 5th version of the congress serves as a cluster to promote updates, business and synergies between leaders of health centers, insurers, travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotels, financial sector, government, transport, legal, pharmaceutical, and educational.

Wednesday June 9, 2021 – Welcome ceremony
The event begins at 5:00 PM with a welcome cocktail, recognitions and the launch of the 3rd Edition of the Health and Wellness Tourism Guide of the Dominican Republic.
Ministerial representations, sponsors, national and international guests, the diplomatic community, investors and participants are invited to the launch event.
Thursday June 10 – Conferences and panels
Panel: Lessons Learned from the International Accreditation Process and Covid-19 Safe Standards, which will be moderated by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the ADTS.

The crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic has posed global challenges.
The third panel, named Health Passport and Role of Vaccines in the Relaunch of Tourism and the Economy”, will be moderated by Dr. José Brea, President of the Dominican Society of Vaccination.

10:40 AM – 11:10 AM
The first presentation is given by the international expert in health technology and business, Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Health, an information technology services company that aims to raise the quality standards of the health sector in the Dominican Republic and Latin America.
Vidal will speak on the topic Challenges of Innovation and Digital Transformation in Health.
Dr. José Rafael Yunén is in charge of the moderation of the panel: Key factors in the Patient’s Experience, which includes the participation of:

Renowned Dominican orthopedist Dr. Luis Alcántara is in charge of the moderating the panel Plastic Surgery, Dentistry, Orthopedics and Robotics: Markets with Great Potential for the Export of Health Services.
He will have the participation of top-level local and international authorities such as:

The Executive Director of Public-Private Partnerships, Sigmund Freund, will lead a panel that seeks to know the perspective of the Dominican health and tourism sector and the potential of its strategic integration.

Health and wellness tourism needs the fundamental guarantees to operate safely, reliably and sustainably for both service providers and the insurance sector, and especially for patients.
In this sense, Lic. Leonel Melo, president of OMG, has the responsibility of directing the Panel: Regulatory Framework for Health Tourism: Challenges and Opportunities.

The International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism, in its last two years has brought together approximately 800 participants, around 70 exhibitors and more than 110 sponsors, which became a force to continue raising innovation, competitiveness and quality standards of the country’s health and tourism services.
