The National Competitiveness Council and the Dominican Association of Health Tourism signed an important inter-institutional agreement to strengthen health tourism and develop joint studies that allow them to generate strategies and reforms.<\/p>\n
For the executive director of COMPETITIVENESS, Rafael Paz, the tourism sector is one of the most competitive in the country, so diversifying it with a specialized intent, such as the medical area, will increase potentialities, boost a higher level of human talent, and Of course, it will represent greater opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe value chain that drives health tourism must be of high quality, so you must have the precise data that will allow you to favor investments and that appropriate regulations and strategies are developed, within the framework of a public-private partnership \u201dSaid Paz.<\/p>\n
He stressed that RD, based on data from the COMPETITIVENESS Strategic Information Division, presents six key aspects: an excellent geographical position, more than 25 daily flights to the United States, specialized and high quality medical centers; there is no waiting cycle, services represent less costs and we have conditions and a favorable climate for the speedy recovery \u201d.<\/p>\n
Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the ADTS, said that this interinstitutional agreement generates an alliance that promotes public-private policies to increase the opportunities and productivity of the sectors involved in medical tourism, facilitating the integration and strategic alignment of the actors.<\/p>\n
Cambiaso also noted that this agreement fosters competition based on the quality and security of the offer, where international accreditations, technology transfer and innovation play a leading role.<\/p>\n
The agreement will be valid for two years and also includes collaboration for the execution of the necessary institutional and political reforms that allow the country to be more competitive in the sector; the identification of existing obstacles and the creation of mechanisms that drive the sustained growth of this thriving industry.<\/p>\n
Likewise, they propose holding work meetings, joint promotion and consolidation plans for the competitive advantages of health tourism in the Dominican Republic, studies and publications such as the Health and Wellness Tourism Guide; I also support the holding of the IV International Congress of Health and Welfare Tourism.<\/p>\n
