“During the event was announced that the 4th International Health Tourism and Wellness Congress will be taking place next year”
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), along with the country content coordinator’s AF Comunicación Estratégica, launched the second edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Destination Guide. The objective of the Guide is to position the Dominican Republic not only as the beautiful tourist destination that is already known for, but as a health and wellness option for those contemplating treatment abroad and the information needed to complete their journeys.
Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso Rathe, president and founder of the ADTS, shared with the audience that the Guide is designed to guide international patients on the process of receiving health attention in the country, including general and cultural information about the destination, options of certified health centers with international departments, as well as hotels and answers to questions frequently asked by health tourists.
Also, during the activity, Ms. Amelia Reyes Mora, vice-president of the ADTS and president of the public relations firm AF Comunicación Estratégica, announced the date of the next International Health Tourism and Wellness Congress, this been the fourth version of the most important activity of the sector in the region, which will be taking place at the Hotel Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua in September of next year.
During the event, Dr. Cambiaso Rathe and Ms. Reyes Mora presented the first printed version of the Guide to the Minister of Public Health Altagracia Guzmán Marcelino and Vice-Minister of Tourism Fausto Fernández, both expressed their commitment to the growth of health tourism in the Dominican Republic. Among other dignitaries in the event, were the Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Minister of Economy, Planning and Development Isidoro Santana, Joel Santos, president of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurant (ASONAHORES) and Dr. César Mella, Director of the Dominican Social Security (IDSS).
Throughout the act, the president of the ADTS announced that the first study about Health Tourism in the Dominican Republic will soon be started led by the National Health Observatory hosted by the Plenitud Foundation and the support of the international investigation agency ASISA Research Group. The results will be shared in the media when available.
Ms. Reyes Mora thanked the companies that have collaborated with the coordination of activities that promote Health Tourism and acknowledged the special commitment of the JW Marriott Hotel, which opened its doors to make this launch possible.
The guide has an important international distribution and visibility, addressed to orient the health tourists that visit our country, as was mentioned by Dr. Cambiaso Rathe. The Guide is readily available on the web page dominicanrepublic.medicaltourism.com and in the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) web page www.adtusalud.org. It will also be available as an eBook through Amazon, iTunes and Barnes & Noble, internationally distributed through the Tourist Promotional Offices of the Ministry of Tourism worldwide, in Dominican Consulates and Embassies with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Accredited Consular Body in the country, as well as in conferences about healthcare and in other strategical points and insurance companies.
